The Cascade Pacific Council of Scouting America is proud and honored to welcome our new Board Chair, Andrew Danner.
Andrew has been a volunteer with the Boy Scouts of America for almost 2 decades. He was asked when his first son joined Scouting to mentor and lead a Tiger Den. Andrew has held many roles as a Scout leader and mentor with the BSA, currently serving as the District Operations Chair on the CPC’s Board of Directors. He is a Vigil Honor member of the Order of the Arrow. Andrew has served as an adult leader for 3 National Jamborees, 1 World Jamboree, and attended Florida Sea Base with 6 Scouts in 2016. Andrew was awarded the Silver Beaver in 2018 recognizing his outstanding service to Scouting.
Andrew and his wife Karen have two Eagle Scout Sons, Zack and Pat, and will celebrate celebrate their 30th anniversary next year. Karen has served 10 years as a leader in Pack/Troop 592/5592 is also a Brotherhood Ordeal Member in the Order of the Arrow. Both Andrew and Karen are longtime volunteers and Karen serves on the executive board to help support the non-profit, L’Arche Portland, donating both their time and treasure. L’Arche Portland supports three homes in Portland where persons with intellectual disabilities are provided a safe and loving place to live. Andrew has also served as Vice President of Beaverton Youth Lacrosse and as Program Chair for the Beaverton Lions Club and has been a member of the Beaverton Lions Club since 2018.
“I am honored, humbled, and excited to serve you and our council during my three-year term,” says Andrew. “Our community and nation need Scouting more than ever. As we become more inclusive and welcoming as Scouting America, we will grow our membership and open doors to partners in the community who have been reluctant to support us in the past.”
We are incredibly grateful to past Board Chair Kaleen Deatherage, who led us as we welcomed girls into our entire program and persevered through a global pandemic. Now, we hope our members, Scouts, and Scouters will be as excited as we are to see Andrew take the helm and lead us into the future as the Cascade Pacific Council of Scouting America.
