Eagle Scout Scholarships

Congratulations on Your Achievement!

You have no doubt been told many times that the benefits of participation in Scouting last a lifetime. The same holds true for a college education.

Cascade Pacific Council Eagle Scout Scholarships

The Cascade Pacific Council offers annual scholarships to outstanding Eagle Scouts residing in the Cascade Pacific Council who have distinguished themselves in accordance with the Scout Oath and Scout Law.

To be eligible an Eagle Scout needs to be a high school senior residing in the council service area with a minimum 3.0 grade point average and demonstrated leadership. (Okay to earn the rank in another council.)  Download the REQUIRED application form.

THIS YEAR’S AWARDS:

  • 1 recipient will receive $5,000.
  • 4 runner-up recipients will each receive $1,000.
SCHOLARSHIP SELECTION CRITERIA:
  • Application: Fully completed, typed application form. Fillable form REQUIRED. PRO TIP: this process is excellent practice for your future career. Legibility and proper spelling and use of the English language will help your application rise to the top!
  • Essay: One page essay discussing how Scouting has influenced your life and developed your character. Check out these expert tips on how to write a “winning” essay.
  • From your Eagle Scout Service Project Workbook: Copy of Eagle Scout Project REPORT- pages A-C 
    Do not send entire project workbook!
  • 3-6 key photos of your Eagle Scout Service Project (optional)
  • Demonstrated leadership.
EXTENDED SCHOLARSHIP TIMELINE:
  • December 4, 2023— Application portal opens. Submit using button to the right.
  • Wednesday Feb 14, 2024— EXTENDED Final submission deadline.
  • February 4-6, 2024— Finalists scheduled to interview for top scholarship.
  • 2nd week of March 2024— Finalists interviewed to compete for top scholarship.

Royden M. Bodley Eagle SCOUT Scholarship

Another local scholarship available for Eagle Scouts in the council is the Royden M. Bodley Scholarship.  To be eligible, you must be an Eagle Scout from Cascade Pacific Council, attend an institution of higher education in Oregon, and pursue an education in forestry, wildlife conservation, environmental science or related fields that will continue your interest in the outdoors. This scholarship is available for up to four years, though an application must be completed annually.

Applications are available online at oregonstudentaid.gov beginning in October with an absolute deadline of March 1st for submission.

National Eagle Scout Scholarships

The National Eagle Scout Association offers several scholarships that may interest you, including the Eagle Scout Project of the Year Award! Visit the NESA website for deadlines and applications. Be aware that some of the NESA scholarships require the Eagle Scout to be a member of NESA to apply. Project of the Year Award DOES NOT require NESA membership.

Veterans of Foreign Wars Scout of the Year

Religious Scholarships

Emmett J. Doerr Memorial Distinguished Scout Scholarship

Catholic | Up to $5,000 | Deadline: March 1

Chester M. Vernon Memorial Eagle Scout Scholarship

Jewish | Up to $4,000 | Deadline January 31

Rick Arkans Eagle Scout Scholarship

Jewish | $1,000 Scholarship | Deadline January 31

Frank L. Weil Memorial Eagle Scout Scholarship

Jewish | Up to $1,000 | Deadline January 31

Eastern Orthodox Scouting Scholarships

Jewish | $1,000 Scholarship | Deadline May 1
