Join us Spring Break 2021

Small Group Classes! 20+ to Choose From!

Looking for something to do during Spring Break? The Cascade Pacific Council is launching Merit Badge Madness! Your plans for spring break may look a little different this year, so we would like to offer opportunities to explore careers and potential new hobbies while working on merit badges! Because we want to create a great experience for everyone and the opportunity to be really engaged, merit badge sessions are limited to 10-12 scouts. We strongly encourage all scouts to earn (or renew) their Cyber Chip prior to their first session. Over 20 different merit badges will be offered with varying degrees of completion. Please note the FAQ’s section for any question you may have. Some merit badges will have pre-requisites, so refer to the table below and come prepared to your session.

Cost: $10 for the first merit badge (and patch!). $5 for each additional merit badge after.

FAQs

Merit Badge Refund Policy

All registrations are non-refundable.

What do I need to be prepared for each merit badge?

Download the merit badge worksheet and review prior to class. Any other pre-requisites will be listed in the grid next to the merit badge and should be completed prior to the session. Additional “homework” may be assigned, and the merit badge counselor will let you know. Also, don’t forget to come with a great scout attitude and come prepared to participate in class by answering questions.

How will I get credit for taking a merit badge?

It is the scout’s responsibility to acquire a blue card from their scoutmaster prior to the merit badge session. Merit badge counselors will be keeping track of what’s completed during the sessions on a grid sheet and will be able to share those achievements with each individual scout. Scouts will be responsible for returning their finished blue card and a copy of the grid sheet to their advancement chair.

How will I know where to go when my session begins?

Each scout will receive an introductory email from their merit badge counselor with a link to their online platform (Zoom, Google Hangouts, etc) and any other information they need to know 24 hours prior to class. Please check the email you register with for these directions; it may go straight to Spam.

Why does a parent need to sit in class?

In order to follow Youth Protection guidelines, we ask that parents attend (or are at least in ear shot of their scout).

What are the rules during a merit badge session?

Here is the Code of Conduct that each scout must abide by

        1. Earn or renew your Cyber Chip.
        2. Wear your uniform to each session.
        3. Keep your camera turned on. You will be asked to participate and it is much easier when the counselor can see your face.
        4. Always follow the Scout Oath and Law. Please be respectful in your language and your actions.
        5. Stay on topic. The chat box and the conversation should relate to the subject at hand.
