Camp Baldwin

Built on Grit. Defined by Adventure.

Camp Baldwin is where the ordinary ends and the grit begins. Whether you’re navigating mountain trails on horseback or plunging into the spray of a Class III whitewater rapid, every path leads to personal growth. It’s a place where you’ll scale the natural faces of Vulture Rocks, catch freshly stocked rainbow trout, or master the elite CL Wrangler track—and somehow, it all builds the same Scout skills: independence, resilience, and leadership.

Perched at 3,600 feet in the Mt. Hood National Forest, Baldwin offers a landscape of pine and sun unlike any other camp. Its unique setting and specialized programs make it a launchpad for the extreme. Here, it’s not just about badges, it’s about pushing Scouts to think bigger, go farther, and achieve more.

Featured Experiences

Explore just some of the featured programs Baldwin has to offer below. For a complete list of activities and program details, check out the Summer Program Guide, then visit the Calendar to sign up.

Real rock. Real high. At Camp Baldwin, we don’t pull on plastic, Scouts climb real rock, gaining skills and confidence on natural surfaces that can’t be replicated on a climbing tower.

Whether you like short horses or tall ones there is a horse for you and a trail to ride. Older Scouts can take it even further with the CL Advanced Wrangler Program, where they’ll build advanced riding skills and work alongside our wranglers for a true behind-the-scenes experience.

Ride the ridge If you love speed, flow, and forest trails, our mountain biking and boarding programs are ready for you. For older Scouts, advanced sessions dive deeper into trail skills, maintenance tips, and ride strategy—perfect for anyone looking to push their limits on two wheels or a board.

Go big. Go beyond. Pack your days with adrenaline-fueled trips beyond camp! Tackle Class 3+ rapids on the Deschutes River or take on the Lower Deschutes while earning your Whitewater merit badge. Hit up Mt. Hood’s Summer Adventure Park, explore historic landmarks like the  Timberline Lodge, or hike the stunning White River trail.

Feast on This. Jamboree-style cooking means you’ll eat like royalty. Campers cook half their meals right in the campsite, which supports Scouting’s long-standing focus on developing teamwork and leadership skills using the Patrol Method.

Everything is provided, including equipment, stoves, propane, and mess kits. You don’t have to bring a thing except an appetite.

Attend summer camp on your own — no troop required.

Scouts can attend camp on their own through our Rover Camp program. Our Rover staff forms a provisional troop, providing adult leadership while Scouts make new friends and experience the full summer camp adventure.
