Survival Skills
About
Scouting Survival Skills teach Scouts the essential knowledge and techniques needed to handle challenging outdoor situations with confidence. These programs emphasize self-reliance, problem-solving, and preparedness while reinforcing Scouting’s outdoor principles.
Key aspects of Scouting survival programs include:
- Shelter Building – Constructing emergency shelters using natural materials or available gear
- Firecraft & Signaling – Learning fire-starting methods and emergency signaling techniques
- Water & Food Procurement – Identifying safe water sources, purification methods, and edible plants
- Navigation & First Aid – Using maps, compasses, and basic first aid to handle emergencies
- Mental Resilience & Problem-Solving – Staying calm, making decisions, and adapting to unexpected challenges
Survival skills programs prepares Scouts for outdoor adventures by building confidence and resourcefulness, ensuring they can thrive in the wilderness and respond effectively in emergencies.
