- Focus: Youth-led leadership training program, emphasizing hands-on learning through interactive presentations, games, and fellowship among participants.
- Target Audience: It’s open to registered Troop-aged Scouts who are interested in enhancing their leadership skills.
- Benefits: Participants gain a deeper understanding of leadership concepts, develop practical skills applicable within their troop and beyond, and build confidence. Youth leadership trainging has proven to make a positive impact on the lives of graduates and the units they lead.
- Youth Leadership Development: The College of Youth Leadership acts as a stepping stone within a broader youth leadership journey in Scouting America. It helps prepare youth for advanced courses like National Youth Leadership Training (NYLT) and National Advanced Youth Leadership Experience (NAYLE).
Tracks:
Introductory Track
Best for newer scouts ages 11-13 or 14-15-year-olds with no leadership experience. This track puts an emphasis on basic leadership. Scouts will learn the required material to best lead a patrol. Skills learned include how to lead small groups, team building, goal setting, and other essential leadership knowledge.
Advanced Scout Track
Designed for 14-17-year-olds. This track is designed to empower scouts to become a Senior Patrol Leader. Advanced leadership skills are used in this course to improve upon previous experience and training. Scouts will find this track utilizes skills that they already have and teach them what they don’t know so that they will be the best leader they can be.
