Role Description

The adult leader responsible for working directly with the Scouts to help them achieve the aims of Scouting through the patrol method.

The “10 Essentials”

1. Guide the Senior Patrol Leader (SPL) and Patrol Leaders’ Council (PLC). Here’s how.

2. Deliver the Scouting program through the patrol method. Here’s how.

3. Mentor Scouts to plan and run troop meetings and outings. 

4. Encourage advancement and personal growth.

5. Conduct Scoutmaster conferences for rank advancement. Here’s how.

6. Promote outdoor adventure, camping, and high adventure programs. Get ideas.

7. Ensure Youth Protection and safe Scouting standards are followed.

8. Encourage participation in service projects and community engagement. Get ideas.

9. Work with parents and committee to support troop goals.

10. Develop assistant Scoutmasters and youth leaders.
