How Scouting Prepared Me for Military Service & Beyond
In celebration of Memorial Day, we are honored to bring you Navy Veteran David Chetlain’s thoughts on how Scouting teaches grit and resilience prepares today’s youth for career and life. You can also read his story that he wrote for The War Horse website whose aim is to highlight the human impact of military service.
David was recently quoted in a Business Insider article about the Department of War’s potential split with Scouting America. “(Scouting America) is trying to prepare people for life, and those same attributes that make you successful in life will make you successful in the military. That’s why I think the relationship is important.” The article also has some fantastic stats about how many military academy students, ROTC and others have a Scouting background.
