Local Resources to Help Friends & Neighbors Be “SCOUT” Prepared!

September is “National Preparedness Month,” the perfect time for our Scouts to promote and share our Scout motto while helping them be prepared like a Scout in the BSA.  Watch the video to see how this campaign will help you grow your Scout unit, raise money and help neighbors Be “Scout” Prepared!

How the Campaign Works

Learn the “10” Essentials Song with Pack 799

Sung to the tune of “My Favorite Things” from Sound of Music, the “10” Essentials Song is a great way to memorize the “10” Essentials… a modified version that includes “string” (paracord) as an 11th essential not only because it rhymes with “things,” but because it’s definitely an essential.

Why “10” Essentials is actually “11”

We learned from wilderness survival expert, Brett Stoffel, that “shelter” is an often missed “essential” and is one of his top items to remember, so we changed “matches or firestarter” to “shelter and firestarter.”

See our interview with Brett Stoffel from our Scouting Expedition Podcast here.
